Chicago Welcomes Stars of ABC’s One Life to Live to Sidetrack Video Bar as they “Celebrate Llanview!” honoring 43 years on the ABC Network. Come to Chicago to watch the very last episode with fans of the show on January 13, 2012, once again being held at Sidetrack Video Bar.

Following the success of “Celebrate Pine Valley!” in September, “soap opera socialite” Jason Spitzer will welcome past and present actors from ABC’s ONE LIFE TO LIVE for “Celebrate Llanview! A Tribute Party" honoring the Series Finale, benefitting Season of Concern.

“The event was a huge hit with the fans and the actors,” says Jason of the All My Children event back in September. “We raised over $5000 for Season of Concern and I would love to raise even more in January. I hold a special place for Season of Concern in my life and believe in what they do. To be able to do this again for them and the dedicated soap fans, I think we’ll have even more success this January!”

Festivities begin at 11AM CST when the actors make an appearance on ABC 7 Chicago’s 11AM Newscast with meteorologist Tracy Butler broadcasting live from the Sidetrack Video Bar interviewing the actors. At 12PM, it’s the “Live from Ultra Violet” talk show where Jason will interview the actors about their time on the show and take questions from the fans. After the One Life to Live finale, stay for the live auction and the meet & greet session.

Celebrating Llanview, Nic Robuck Loves Out Loud

The youngest of four siblings, Nic Robuck grew up in Indianapolis, Indiana. He attended Scecina Memorial Catholic High School where he did many shows and plays. “I really enjoyed it, but I wanted to be a Disney animator when I was younger. I was into art. Then I saw the movie Titanic.” He then decided to be an actor said to myself “and make movies just like that … I wanted to affect people that way as well.” He played "A wide-range of characters. I was in Fiddler on the Roof, and I played Motel, the tailor. That was my first singing solo and that was just gut-wrenching. I was also in the play version of Pillow Talk where I played the assistant to one of the leading ladies; [he] had a French accent. I took French at the time, so I was really proud of the work I did with that." He graduated cum laude from the University of Southern California, where he did Cabaret and a couple of original plays. Before joining One Life to Live as James Ford in June of 2010 Nic appeared on television shows in guest roles on The Young and the Restless, CSI: Miami, and iCarly.

"I was just brought on to be new love interest in Starr's life. It wasn't intentional for me to be Ford's brother. When they noticed how much we really did resemble each other, they said, 'Let's make him Ford's younger brother.' The resemblance is astonishing. Even my dad has confused us. He was looking through a magazine of another interview I had done, and he said, 'Oh, here you are.' I said, 'That's not me. That's the guy who plays my brother.'" Nic views his time on One Life to Live as a new beginning. Let’s hope that it is just the beginning for this young man. David Andrew Gregory was born in Fairbanks, Alaska, on August 19, 1985. At an early age, he knew that he wanted to be an actor. One summer he went to Interlochen Center for the Arts. The experience at the summer arts camp left him with the feeling that he had no other choice; performing arts was a part of him, and he was meant to act. In 2008, David graduated with a Bachelor of Music in Music Theatre from Baldwin-Wallace College in Berea, Ohio. During his college years, he had exposure to acting opportunities that he had not received anywhere else, and he really appreciates the insight that he has taken away from his mentors and teachers. Leading up to his role as Robert Ford on One Life to Live, David endured seven months of unemployment.He eventually got a call to audition for One Life to Live’s casting director, and although he didn’t feel the vibe, afterwards he got invited to read for Executive Producer Frank Valentini. Before he even making it home, he got the call, and they had an answer for him: Meet Robert Ford, everyone!

David is also very fortunate to have a great family who supports his ambitions, and he credits them for where he is today.Concerning his role on One Life to Live, he thanks his fans for their support, and he really appreciates their role in bringing his character, Ford, back to the show. A labor of love got lovelier when the generous Josh Kelly decided to come on board for Celebrate Llanview, the fundraiser for Chicago's Season of Concern,

Having grown up in a military family and born in Japan, Josh Kelly has called several places home through the years, including Guam, the Philippines, Maryland, Georgia and Maine. The self-proclaimed former computer nerd would often create simple computer games when he wasn't competing in matches as a member of his high school's lacrosse and wrestling teams. Kelly knew he wanted to perform from an early age, however, and also participated several theater productions.

After graduating high school, Kelly enlisted in the Army and was deployed to Afghanistan one month after 9/11. He became an Army Ranger and led his highly-skilled unit through three more tours in Afghanistan and one in Iraq. In 2003, he returned to his passion for acting and moved to Los Angeles. He studied drama for two years and landed several TV appearances, in True Blood, Ugly Betty, Las Vegas and CSI:Miami. In 2009, he was cast in Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen. He also co-wrote, acted in and co-directed a short film about post-traumatic stress, Cope, with his fellow Army buddies and was later cast again and served as a military consultant in Transformers: Dark of the Moon after director Michael Bay saw Cope.

In 2010, Kelly auditioned for the role of Joey on One Life to Live (his Transformers co-star Josh Duhamel helped him prepare for his screen test). The part was ultimately given to Tom Degnan, but Kelly was offered the part of Cutter, Aubrey's mysterious boyfriend.

Lenny Platt Loves Out Loud

His Twitter profile states, “An actor from no place in particular.” Begging to differ, according to his acting and presence, Lenny Platt seems to be coming from a very good place and one that makes you pay attention. Platt, a self-proclaimed movie buff, he joined a student film group while a criminology major at The University of Florida. When one of the actors had to drop out of a film he was writing and directing, Platt stepped in. He arrived at the conclusion the rest of us now know: he is a very talented actor.
He came to New York in 2006 and was eventually cast as Nate Salinger for the high school musical, Starr X'd Lovers. Although it was originally intended only for a set number of episodes, his chemistry with Kelley Missal's Danielle did not go unnoticed and the show kept him on as Nate. Shortly after that, Nate was revealed to be the secret brother of Ford and James, and his post at One Life to Live seemed to be set. He became part of that delicious Ford brothers chemistry fueling the libidinous air in Llanview. Platt is a generous soul recently guest bartending at Stockings with Care’s fundraiser last month. He has generously consented to grace us with his presence at Celebrate Llanview, Jason Spitzer’s farewell to One Life to Life on January 13, 2012 in Chicago at Sidetrack. It benefits Season of Concern.

Since her coming out in March 2006, Lori Michaels has taken Me & The Girls from coast to coast to the biggest pride festivals, club shows, music festivals, appearances and benefits all over the country. She has been non-stop with her Live Out Loud Pride Tour which kicked off at Dinah Shore Weekend in April 2008. Michaels grew up in the small town of Fairview, New Jersey. Her professional training began in her youth at Broadway Dance Center in New York City. She later graduated from New York University with a pre-law degree. She is the founder and president of the non-profit organization, Reach Out, Inc. and is an honorary board member of the Joey DiPaolo AIDS Foundation.

Michaels' efforts with her charitable organization remain the heart (and soul) of all that she does. She is an entertainer and an activist for causes she truly cares about. With numerous awards and accolades, hundreds of events, most of which she organized and helped produce herself, a celebratory PSA promoting 20 years of "eaching out and events on Lori's upcoming calendar. She shows no sign of slowing down anytime soon. Ben Brantley of the New York Times describes Lea as, "Every inch a star." Lea DeLaria, who already enjoyed a career as a Broadway singer and stand-up comedian, made her recording debut in 2000. Lea was confirmed as one of the best jazz singers of our time.

The first openly gay comic to appear on national television in the United States (Arsenio Hall in 1993 and from this point forward she has toured the world with her one-of-a-kind blend of cool jazz and in your face comedy. Ms. DeLaria's work in television is as unique as it is varied. She has created strange characters for daytime soaps (One Life to Live ), Primetime (Will & Grace, Friends and Matlock ) The small screen gave way to the big screen, lea has played parts in major motion pictures (The First Wives Club) but more often leads in independents like Edge of Seventeen, for which her version of Irving Berlin's "Blue Skies" won a 1999 GLAMA Award for Best Jazz Performance. In Fat Rose and Squeaky she played the title role along side Academy Award winner Louise Fletcher and four time Emmy winner Cicely Tyson. As a result of numerous musical comedy turns, Ms. DeLaria's singing career blossomed. She toured night clubs and concert halls. It was at one of these that Lea was spotted by Warner Jazz and signed the deal. Her very first record Play It Cool was named Album of the Year by the London Times, with the single “The Ballad of Sweeney Todd” remaining at #1 on Jazz radio in the U.S. for 2 months. Lea has toured most of the large Jazz Festivals including London, New York City JVC, and Montreux, culminating in her appearance as the featured vocalist of The 50TH Anniversary of The Newport Jazz Festival Tour. A talented and versatile actor, Nathaniel Marston has worked in many different acting genres over the course of his career. From commercials to films, a stint on a prime time series to his role on the daytime drama One Life to Live, Nathaniel continues to impress critics and fans alike with his honest and intense performances.

Born on July 9, 1975, in Torrington, CT, Nathaniel lived in several states with his mother Elizabeth, an aspiring actress, before moving to Kauai, HI, at the age of three. When he was ten, they moved to San Diego, CA. During the next several years he lived in Los Angeles, CA and New York, returning to Los Angeles where he graduated from Beverly Hills High School.

While working at a Beverly Hills bakery, Nathaniel was discovered by a customer who happened to be an agent for William Morris. After appearing in several commercials, he was cast as Rosario Cappamezza in the feature film Love Is All There Is, followed by a role in the film The Craft. He then became a regular in the television series Educating Matt Waters.

In 1998, Nathaniel joined the cast of the daytime drama As the World Turns as Eddie Silva, a role which earned him a Soap Opera Digest Award nomination for Outstanding Male Newcomer. He left the show in January 1999. He went on to complete two feature films, Ordinary Sinner and Ciao America, and played a reporter in the cable television movie Monday Night Mayhem.

In December 2001 he took on the role of Al Holden on the ABC TV's One Life to Live. Although the character of Al was killed off in September 2003, Nathaniel returned to the show as a new character, Dr. Michael McBain, after fans protested, clamoring for his return. He left the show in November 2007. Nathaniel guest starred as Brent Latimer on Law & Order: Special Victim's Unit in November 2008. He also guest starred as Thomas Loge in a March 2010 episode of USA's White Collar. You know, it's great to have something in common with Angelina Jolie, on of his former co-stars. One is proactive because it is less frustrating living life when setting things in motion. Good things need to be nurtured and allowed to flourish. There are two organizations which are the beneficiaries of one of the many projects of The Imperial Court of NYC: Lifebeat.org and The Jan Hus Community Church. It is a very special labor of love to charge up (pester) people to help out either as talent or an attendee.

In the old neighborhood there was a slang expression for a pest, "scootch." In the Urban Dictionary it is spelled, "skutch." The etymology is the same, the Italian verb scocciare, pronounced in dialect, skoochar--picture a young child tugging on a mother's skirt or apron: un bambino socciante. Essere scocciante in some cases is also a labor of love. So, here goes:

The Jan Hus Church and Neighborhood House is located on the Upper East Side of Manhattan and is home to the Jan Hus Playhouse Theater. This church was built in 1877 and gets its name from the great Czech Religious reformer Jan Hus. Today, Jan Hus Church practices progressive thinking and is committed to encouraging and welcoming the full participation of lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender persons in its congregation and within the church’s hierarchy. They are also active in social outreach, serving as a place of spiritual inspiration, worship and a beacon of hope to the community it serves. Rev. Ray Bagnuolo, the current pastor of Jan Hus, is very proud of the church’s community programs which include a senior center, preschool, homeless outreach program, public cafeteria, AA meeting hall and theater. Recently, Pastor Ray participated in the workshop Carl Stillitano facilitates. After witnessing Carl’s unique ability to guide his participants with grace & integrity, he was inspired to familiarize himself with Carl’s writings. He was so impressed with Kenny & The Virgin Mary; he chose this production to bring the stage at Jan Hus back to life in order to co-create an entertainment venue which serves humanity.

Lifebeat has carved out a unique niche by effectively using the power of music as a nonprofit that uses the power of music to help educate young people about HIV/AIDS prevention. For more than seventeen years, Lifebeat has helped to mobilize the talents and resources of the music industry to raise awareness and funds, and to provide support to the HIV-positive community. Lifebeat relies on a small but dedicated staff and an active Board of Directors to carry out our mission, as well as a wonderful group of volunteers and a network of national AIDS service organizations (ASO’s) to educate young people through our outreach efforts.

Terese Genecco has been appearing every month in Broadway’s longest running nightclub act at the world-renowned jazz venue, The Iridium with her 8-piece Little Big Band. She has been hailed as “the love-child of Dean Martin & Judy Garland” by The San Francisco Examiner, “A One-Woman Rat Pack!” by Cabaret Scenes Magazine and as a Critic’s Pick and Top Ten favorite of Time Out New York magazine since first appearing in Jazz at The Lincoln Center in 2005.

First known for her multi-award winning jazz/musical creation, Drunk With Love:A Tribute To Frances Faye. Missy Keene and Ken Lundie

"Missy Keene Sizzles At Feinstein's" declared a reviewer of her recent successful return run at Feinstein's at the Regency. In 2002, Missy inaugurated their popular Monday night series. Trained at The Juilliard School, some of Missy’s other cabaret appearances include The Iridium, Don’t Tell Mama’s and Backstage at Dopo Teatro .

She has been seen in theatrical productions as Sandy in Grease, Kim in Bye Bye Birdie, Jesus Christ Superstar and Godspell. Missy is particularly proud of her musical participation in numerous events honoring Olympian Athletes and commemorating the heroes and victims of 9/11. Her new CD, As Long As I’m Singing, was released this past summer to coincide with her Feinstein's appearance. Missy’s Christmas Wishes CD was released December 2009.

Ken Lundie continues to be one of the busiest audition pianists on the New York theatrical scene having played for hundreds of Broadway and regional shows. Ken began his career as an actor and was in the original Broadway production of Crazy for You and appeared in the film Best Little Whorehouse in Texas with Dolly Parton. Musical direction credits include Jimmy Buffett's Don't Stop the Carnival, Dietrich and Chevalier, For Lovers Only and Golf: the musical. Ken is pleased to be performing once again with Missy Keene.

John DeMarco Wishes You Love Out Loud

John De Marco was a lead singer for the Follies Bergere in Paris for many years, and followed the show to Las Vegas for two years. His inimitable crooning style labeled him "The Voice That Wishes You Love" by Walter Winchell.

De Marco sang in the top cabaret rooms in the 60s and 70s: The Bonsoir, Sniffen Court Inn, Living Room, Upstairs of the Downstairs, Trude Hellers, Bal Tabarin, African Room, The Rio Grande, Page Two, The Big Black Pussy Cat, Village Gate, Crazy Horse Cafe, Copa Cabana Lounge and lead singer with The Copa Girls, Chicago's Black Orchid, Boom Boom Room in Miami, etc.

Robin Strasser Loves Out Loud

Soap viewers were first introduced to the dazzling Robin Strasser when she created the vixen Rachel Davis on Another World in 1967. Since then, the lively and sometimes controversial actress has become a virtual fixture in daytime.

Strasser's interest in performing was palpable at an early age. Born and raised in New York City, she graduated from the prestigious High School of Performing Arts. She then attended Yale School of Drama on a full scholarship. Upon graduation, Strasser began her foray in daytime TV and performed in plays, including The Shadow Box and Chapter Two. Her AW character was so popular that she appeared in the short-lived spin-off, Somerset, in 1970.

After leaving AW in 1972, Strasser continued to do theater, as well as movies, TV movies and prime-time guest spots. She returned to soaps in 1976 when she took on the role of All My Children's Dr. Christina Karras from 1976-79. The actress then began her longest daytime stint as One Life to Live's Dorian, which she played from 1979-87, 1993-2000 and again from 2003-present. During her first hiatus from Llanview, Strasser continued to make a name for herself in prime-time, playing Knots Landing's Dianne and starring in several movies of the week. When she left One Life to Live in 2000, however, her exit was more controversial; she felt as if she was forced out when her contract negotiations came to a head.

Still, Strasser managed to bounce back and signed on as Passions' 300-year-old witch, Hecuba, that same year. She also spent time in France and continued to work in theater and TV. When she returned to One Life to Live in February 2003, Strasser enjoyed several front-burner storylines, including Dorian's marriage to evil Mitch, a hot romance with con artist David and her character's continued rivalry with Viki. Somehow, the busy Strasser still found time to star in a production of the play The Tale of the Allergist's Wife in 2004 and also began producing videos on women's health issues in 2005.

When she's not working, Strasser does fund-raising for AIDS, is on the Advisory Board of the American Menopause Foundation and is a spokesperson for the National Osteoporosis Foundation. In her spare time, she loves yoga, cooking, collecting antiques and doting on her dogs: a Maltese, Bisou, and a mixed breed, Roc-qui. I was born to love, love out loud

From 2001 to 2005 with the help of Chris Meloni's participation in eBay auctions it was, needless to say, rather easy to raise funds as an individual. Meloni provided an identity for the process that was an extension of his own personal generosity. It seemed a natural progression as a member of the Smart + Strong family to raise the bar as far as fund-raising was concerned. It was gratifying that Ilene Kristen of One Life to Live was the very first to step up when the idea was formulated. When All My Children's Thorsten Kaye came on board the first event started to take shape because loyal fans stepped up to give it life, especially in New York. Fund raising as a team, as an entity, if you will, with individuals using their personal resources to do so, can utilize events with other fund raising opportunities so easily accessible in New York City, Los Angeles and other urban centers.

The first Love Out Loud took place in 2006 due to the generosity of Rich Herschenfeld and Ian Duke affording the opportunity at Prohibition on Columbus Ave at 84th, the locale that had been the site of events and fund-raisers for years. Experiencing the AIDS crisis from the early days is a life changing experience. It was homage to friends and others who are no longer with us—having a party in their honour prior to AIDS Walk New York.

Michael Clay of Austin, TX provided the theme, his signature song, the incomparable "Love Out Loud," a paean to loving as one’s nature dictates, an autobiographical sketch of how the emotional struggles of youth brought the singer to musical expression a metaphor/simile for loving and living. Michael could tell many a tale of close friends from his Nashville years and more than one has inspired his original material. They were years full of creativity and connecting personalities. Michael is now down in Austin loving as loud as he can and performing his handsome butt off.

Michael came to New York with his band and filled Prohibition with a joyous noise along with Ilene Kristen. In 2007, Ken Lundie, musical producer, became part of the entertaining tapestry. John Kouri and Tremors eventually became the band of the hour, so to speak, with Ilene Kristen, cabaret chanteuse Barbara Porteus and Mr. Lundie once in following years. In 2008, there were even more celebrities in attendance with CBS shows coming on board with Marj Dusay of Guiding Light taking stage to address the attendees. By that time it had become an Upper West Side tradition. In 2009 the musical experience achieved new heights with the addition of John Pagano who graced Love Out Loud ’s Bacharach to the Future.

Actors from ABC, NBC, CBS, Logo and here! TV have come together at POZ‘s annual fund-raisers for AIDS Walk New York and AIDS Walk Los Angeles. Thorsten Kaye (Zach) of All My Children continues to be there has been joined by fellow cast members Alicia Minshew (Kendall), Billy Miller (Richie), Jeff Branson, (Jonathan),Melissa Claire Egan (Annie), Adam Mayfield (Scott) and Brittany Allen (Marissa); One Life to Live’s “Foxy Roxy" Ilene Kristen has been accompanied by talented co-workers, Jason Tam (Markko), John Brotherton (Jared), Mark Lawson (Brody), Bree Williamson (Jessica), Farah Fath (Gigi), John Paul Lavoisier (Rex), Brittany Underwood (Langston), Brandon Buddy (Cole) and Daphnee Duplaix Samuels (Rachel); As the World Turns has been represented by Wolé Parks (Dallas), Davida Williams (Jade), Meredith Hagner (Liberty), Mick Hazen (Parker), Van Hansis (Luke), Billy Magnussen (Casey), Trent Dawson (Henry) and Evan Alex Cole (Hunter). Guiding Light past and present has been represented by Murray Bartlett (Cyrus), Jennifer Roszell (Eleni), Zack Conroy (James) and POZ’s good friends Mark Dobies (Noah), and Brian Gaskill (Dylan), who came in from the West Coast in 2009. Project Runway's Jack Mackenroth and Kevin Christiana helped us out in 2008. Thom Christopher, “Hawk” of Buck Rodgers in the 21st Century fame, has been there more than once to add his smiling face to the cause. Soap Opera legend Laurence Lau (All My Children’s Greg Nelson, Another World‘s Jamie Frame) was in the good company of his gift-bearing fans in 2009. Actors Colton Ford and David Moretti from The Lair were on hand to add some spice to the proceedings. Fan favourite Matt Walton (Optimum and One Life to Live)and good friend to POZ has been on hand more than once. Law &Order: SVU’s Christopher Meloni greeted his many fans and lent his special presence. The year that Alicia Minshew of All My Children came was the same year she announced her engagement to long time love, Rich Hershenfeld of Prohibition. The fan response was immense and intense. It was best year for funds!

Love Out Loud West has been happening in Los Angeles since 2007, first at The Abbey, followed by East/West Lounge and then h.wood for AIDS Walk Los Angeles. Sherri Lewis (Divas Simply Singing), Ted Detwiler (Sordid Lives),Kristoff St. John (The Young and the Restless), good friend, Patrika Darbo (Days of Our Lives), Kate Linder (The Young and the Restless), Thom Bierdz(The Young and the Restless), Lisa LoCicero and Brandon Barash of General Hospital, heartthrobs David Moretti of The Lair, Brandon Beemer of The Bold and the Beautiful with Nadia Bjorlin (Days of Our Lives), Brian Gaskill, who has been on both coasts and, of course, Ilene Kristen an inspiration on every coast.

Singer John Pagano (Pure Imagination)gave an exceptional performance in 2009 that proved that he has a very special talent.

The gracious personal support on the part of members of the entertainment industry to help those with HIV/AIDS and its awareness helps make POZ events in Los Angeles get brighter every year. Michael Maloney (Soaps In Depth) and Tammie Arroyo (Steven Bergman Photography) as members of the media did their part for awareness. It’s grand when the beautiful people do something beautiful.

Strong mention needs to be made of the media participation and support of Kimberly Roots formerly of Soaps in Depth, her colleagues Chris Eads and Frank Scalise along with Roger Newcomb, Kevin Mulcahy, Jr and Damon Jacobs of We Love Soaps who co-sponsored Love Out Loud in 2011. With friends like these who cares of you have enemies.

In 2008 the advent and subsequent friendship of Kevin Spirtas, well known on Broadway and on television, helped bring the World AIDS Day event Bacharach to the Future to fruition. It was more than a memorable evening with many of the best and brightest performers giving life to Burt Bacharach’s compositions highlighting his early contribution to the AIDS struggle with the song “That’s What Friends Are For,” the pioneering recording that benefited The Foundation for AIDS Research (amfAR) in 1985.

Last year in collaboration with Lifebeat, we produced a tribute to Carole King, King for A Day: Brother, Brother. It was a grand evening hosted by good friend, Matt Walton. The gracious Callaway Sisters were there to bring a tear to an eye or two with “You’ve Got A Friend.” Mighty Kate practically stole the show with her performance. Colton Ford and Gregory Nalbone, heart throbs for gay and straight alike, gave memorable performances. This year we have amazing athlete DeMarco Majors (Shirts & Skins )to meet and greet you along with Mark Dobies, Ted Detwiler (Sordid Lives), who is paying us a visit from the West Coast along with CSI’s Gerald McCullouch.

This year we want to steal your heart away in collaboration with The Imperial Court of New York benefiting Lifebeat and The Jan Hus Community Church. Of course, the ever-giving Ilene Kristen will be there. There will be other amazing performances—BethAnn Bonner is on hand to wow you with her flawless voice and beauty. “I started singing because my mother was a singer in her church choir and every Wednesday, Saturday and Sunday we were there,” said Brentwood, Tennessee native Kelly King in an exclusive interview with GO Brooklyn. “From the time I could run around on my own two feet, I was always at the church and [my mother] was always singing.” It wasn’t long before King herself took the mic. Before she was 3 years old, King was leading her mother’s choir in a rendition of “Silent Night.” “I’ve been in bars and clubs as long as I can remember. My parents are very into music and the scene in Nashville is incredible.” Unlike other showbiz kids who never left the club scene, King is all business when she’s at a venue.“Maybe it’s because I was in the bar scene from such a young age that I never wanted to be like that.”

Anyone who grew up on a surf board and turned professional at the tender age of 16 is worthy of attention. There are more than enough reasons to pay attention to this fine young gentleman who turned to theatre after an ankle injury. It was Ted Detwiler’s and Del Shores’ mutual good fortune that they both were working on the situation comedy Ned & Stacy where they met. Their friendship and collaboration has led to our good fortune in enjoyable art with both Sordid Lives and Southern Baptist Sissies. He has starred in numerous musicals and plays. TV credits include Crossing Jordan, Sliders and Hyperion Bay. His film credits include: Must Love Dogs, The Ring 2, After Sunset, Chasers and Blood Money.

It was fortuitous when Ted joined Bacharach to the Future. He made quite an impression singing "Promise Her Anything." There is much good fortune to go around. He is flying in from the West Coast to join us for Daytime Meets Nightime. It didn't take much to convince him. Most of us can't wait!

In 2006 she was offered the contract role of police officer Talia Sahid on the ABC Daytime’s One Life to Live, debuting in December of that year and finishing the role in 2009. She is an extremely talented singer who gave commanding performances at shows to benefit Broadway Cares: Equity Fights AIDS and POZ's Bacharach to the Future. The woman needs a showcase of her own. Daytime Meets the Nighttime, benefitting the Jan Hus Neighborhood Church and Lifebeat, Music Fights HIV, will be more than just a dazzling display of regal glamour and amazing, show stopping songs, it is an opportunity to celebrate two wonderful organizations who serve their communities with resilience.

Many special guests and performers will make this an evening to remember.

The Jan Hus Presbyterian Church and Neighborhood House is located on the Upper East side of Manhattan and is home to the Jan Hus Playhouse Theater. This church was built in 1877 and gets its name from the great Czech Religious reformer Jan Hus, who was excommunicated from the Catholic Church and was later burned at the stake as a heretic in 1415. His teachings greatly influenced the Protestant Movement for years to come. The church served as a central hub for a large Czech Community, in the neighborhood then known as “Little Bohemia”, that totaled thirty or forty thousand in the late 1900’s.

From 1960 thru 1970, the 150 seat theater served as the home to LOOM (Light Opera of Manhattan), which was an Off-Broadway repertory theater company founded by William Mount-Burke and employed comedian Raymond Allen and choreographer Jerry Gotham. They performed the works of Gilbert & Sullivan and many European & American operettas.

Today, Jan Hus Church practices progressive thinking and is committed to encouraging and welcoming the full participation of lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender persons in its congregation and within the church’s hierarchy. They are also active in social outreach, serving as a place of spiritual inspiration, worship and a beacon of hope to the community it serves. Rev. Ray Bagnuolo, the current pastor of Jan Hus is very proud of the church’s community programs which include a senior center, preschool, homeless outreach program, public cafeteria, AA meeting hall and theater.

Lifebeat is a nonprofit that uses the power of music and the music industry to help educate young people about HIV/AIDS prevention. For more than seventeen years, Lifebeat has helped to mobilize the talents and resources of the music industry to raise awareness and funds, and to provide support to the HIV-positive community.

Greg Turner is a product of New York University’s Department of Dramatic Writing . He was a 2008 Semi-Finalist for the Disney Fellowship in Feature Film. For the past two years, Greg has been working on Empire, an internet soap opera, he co-created. Season four of Empire is currently in pre-production and the first three seasons are available at www.empiretheseries.com. Greg and his Empire producing partner, Brian Hewson are also in development for a new webseries starring Martha Byrne. His new musical All Fall Down, written with Selda Sahin, was produced in the 2009 New York Musical Theatre Festival (NYMF) directed by Lonny Price and starring Jenn Colella and Mary Testa. A finalist for the 2008 Eugene O’Neill National Music Theatre Conference, All Fall Down is based on his play of the same name, which was produced at the NYU Festival of New Works in 2002. In May of 2009, Greg made his European debut as a playwright at the Keller Theatre with his comedy The Gift Exchange a workshop production in New York from 2007. Greg has adapted The Gift Exchange into a screenplay and is planning to film it on location in Vermont.

Brian Hewson graduated from New York University in 2003 with a degree in Communications. He has spent his time since then in a myriad of activities including general management of All Fall Down. For the past two years he has been working on Empire.

In Turner and Hewson we get to experience the future of a genre that will never die. These young turks are on board for Love Out Loud VI. Come meet and greet the future of story telling.

Kelley Missal was born and raised in Central New Jersey and pursued her dream of acting with her parents’ support and soon began auditioning in commercials. Having a father in show business as a drummer for rocker Billy Idol, Kelley and her brother were taught to play guitar and drums. She also enjoys singing and dancing. Kelley appeared as an orphan on Saturday Night Live in a vignette with Dan Aykroyd and Jimmy Fallon. After three years of not working, she told her mother she wanted to pursue the acting bug again and appeared on Comedy Central’s Dennis Leary Roast. She has successfully done several voiceover ads as well.At her audition forOne Life to Live in 2009, Kelley won the part of feisty teen, Danielle Rayburn immediately after her screen test. She credits her co-stars Trevor St. John, Florencia Lozano and Eddie Alderson with helping her evolve as an on-screen actress. We are very happy to add Kelley to Love Out Loud VI. She’ll take time out of her busy day to help us raise funds for AIDS Walk New York.

This Hampden, CT native had her first official paid acting gig in a Lowe’s Home Improvement National Radio Commercial. Shenell joined One Life to Live in 2009 as scene stealer Destiny Evans, her first major television role. Before that life changing adventure in 2008, Miss Edmonds played Casey in the short family filmCouples Only. In addition to acting, Shenell enjoys dancing, listening to music, traveling, swimming and volunteering. If that doesn’t leave her breathless, she is honing her skills as a cook and hopes to be very good at it some day. Bucks County, PA is somewhere fictional One Life to Live’s Llanview might very well be and it is the birthplace of Kristen Alderson who has been playing Starr Manning on the show ever since she auditioned for the role at the age of six— that’s more than half her life! She brought a lot of pizazz to the younger Starr, the offspring of two very, for lack of a better term, charismatic individuals: no mean feat. Alderson is a natural. At that early age Kristen was already a show business veteran given her experience as Molly in Annie. The multi-talented young lady virtually grew up with the character of Starr and then brought new and interesting interpretations to the role when Starr became a teen mother. She first came to Love Out Loud in 2008. Kristen will once again be joining our fundraiser. Let us hope the bright future that awaits her will serve as a good omen for AIDS Walk New York.

Anyone who includes carpentry among his interests has to be quite an interesting fellow and As the World Turns was blessed with the very interesting Billy Magnussen as Casey Hughes fresh from his Broadway stage debut in the classic comedy, The Ritz, starring Rosie Perez in 2008. As a member of that cast it is particularly poignant because it was a hit originally in 1975 when the sexual mores of this country had not yet been effected by the HIV virus. This Queens native who was raised in the Deep South comes to Love Out Loud for a second time, along with other local celebrities, who are lending their names and energies to HIV and AIDS awareness—some are young people who don’t know a world without this disease. It is reassuring that this young man is involved in raising awareness as well as helping out with a fund raising effort.

Austin Peck was born in Honolulu, Hawaii, but we have no doubt that he is a citizen of the United States of America. This former linebacker on his high school football team writes poetry and draws figures and caricatures. He has illustrated a book based on the lives of his two sons. In June 2010, Peck and his relationship with his former As the World Turns co-star, and current TV co-star Terri Conn was covered in the February 15, 2011 and March 8, 2011 issues of Soap Opera Digest magazine. It also covered his move to One Life to Live, where he is currently burning up the airwaves as Rick, the auteur. He played Austin Reed on Days of our Lives 1995 to 2002, 2005 to 2006 and 2010. Peck was a recast to the role, and succeeded a popular actor. Peck quickly became very popular in the role, reportedly getting the most fan mail of anyone in the Days cast. He assumed the role of Brad Snyder on As the World Turns, first airing in January 2007. He has also appeared in the acclaimed off-Broadway play The Irish Curse. We are happy and thrilled to have this perennial fan favorite joining us for Love Out Loud VI on May 11, 2011. His presence will no doubt be an opportunity not only helping raise awareness and funds but pleasing those attendees who will come to meet and greet him.

Theresa Celeste Conn’s family moved often during her childhood, but eventually settled in Albuquerque, NM. Having forsaken acting for cheerleading in high school, Terri was in her junior year as a communications major at University of San Diego when she went to Florence, Italy — and had an epiphany. Realizing that she really wanted to be an actress, Ms Conn made a deal with her parents: She would move to Los Angeles for the summer to pursue her dream, but would return to finish her senior year. Soon after, she landed a part on the syndicated teen show Breaker High, then auditioned for As the World Turns , conn truly blossomed (along with Katie) when her scheming, high-strung character was paired with Paul Leyden's Simon. Terri was nominated for a Daytime Emmy for Outstanding Younger Actress in 2001 and for Outstanding Supporting Actress at the Soap Opera Digest Awards that same year. It is no surprise that this beautiful and talented young woman found herself on One Life to Live very soon after As the World Turns ended. As of March 2011 she gets to work with her real life love Austin Peck. It is a great honor to have Ms. Conn as a celebrity greeter on May 11, 2011 at Prohibition.

Smith has demonstrated consistent attention and commitment to helping people living with HIV. We are honored and thrilled to have her attend this fun and exciting event! Hillary Baily Smith is the consummate professional respected by colleague and loyal fan alike. Smith originated the role of Nora Hanan in September 1992, a headstrong attorney whose quick wit has kept her smiling through some difficult times. Ms. Smith received the Daytime Emmy Award as Outstanding Lead Actress in 1994 for her portrayal of the incredibly charming, irrepressible Nora, and was nominated again for the award in 2000.
Smith performed off-Broadway in Song Night in the City. She has performed in Wendy Wasserstein's Broadway play, The Heidi Chronicles, and off-Broadway in Lips Together and Teeth Apart. Motion pictures in which she has appeared are Purple Hearts, Love Potion #9, It Had to Be You, and Life Breath with Luke Perry as well as the feature film Maid in Manhattan starring Jennifer Lopez. Ms. Smith's primetime television experience includes starring opposite Gene Wilder in Something Wilder. Daytime audiences are familiar with Ms. Smith on As the World Turns, where she played policewoman Margo Hughes for six-and-a-half years. An athlete and an actor with the heart of a poet is a description fitting Thorsten Kaye to a tee. He has presence and, therefore, his characters fill the small screen whenever he appears. His work with Alicia Minshew has been noteworthy on All My Children as was his work with Susan Haskell back in the Golden Age of One Life to Live.

Thorsten Kaye is one of the important elements in helping get Love Out Loud off to a running start, because he has generously taken the time to come by to greet his many fans every year to help bring attention to the fundraiser. He is loyal to the cause and they are loyal to him.

Soap Opera Royalty Loves Out Loud: Thom Racina

Thomas Frank Raucina was born in Kenosha. To help finance college, he wrote books simply to earn money- books that he didn't even want recognition for. Thom Racina (as his professional name came to be) wrote Westerns, romances, porn or whatever else the publisher paid him for. He moved up to mainstream publishing with a take-off on The Happy Hooker: My Own Story, by Xaviera Hollander, called The Happy Hustler, which he wrote entirely in one weekend. The novel ended up being successful, selling three million copies and spawning three sequels. His breakthrough came in 1977 and was titled The Great Los Angeles Blizzard."Rights were purchased to adapt it to the big screen, but the cost estimates for the film were too high for it to be profitable. Racina took a 19-year hiatus after this novel to work on writing for TV. He gave the world 4,000 broadcast hours of Search for Tomorrow (1980), General Hospital(1981-1984), Days of Our Lives (1984-1986), Another World (1986-1988), Generations (1988-1991) and Santa Barbara (1991-1992), besides writing for the much-acclaimed nighttime series, Family (1978-1979). As a writer for the soaps, he received five Emmy nominations, one specifically for "Luke & Laura's Wedding on" General Hospital- the single highest-rated episode in daytime history (30 million people tuned in). “I loved being head writer, for you get to play God and get paid for it to boot! It was a great time, and sometimes, I'll admit, when I'm feeling lonely in my newly-chosen solitary profession as a novelist, I do miss it. But I can't do both, and having a book or two on library shelves when I'm gone means a great deal. Writing books is nourishing for the soul.”After many busy years spent writing for TV, Racina returned to life as a novelist and moved to Palm Springs. It was not difficult for him to get back into the swing of writing thriller novels, with Snow Angel being published shortly after in 1996. He has since written Hidden Agenda (1998), Secret Weekend (1999), The Madman's Diary(2000), Never Forget (2002) and Deep Freeze (2005). Beth Chamberlin Loves Out Loud

Beth Chamberlin joined Guiding Light and took over the role of Beth Raines in 1989. She left Guiding Light in 1991, only to come back six years later after returning to school to study psychology. Devastated by the sudden death of her father in 1999, Chamberlin struggled to come to terms with her loss and contemplated leaving Guiding Light when her contract ended that year. Claire Labine, then-head writer of the show, convinced her to re-sign. Chamberlin often helps with charities and takes part in volunteer work. She frequently works with groups that combat ALS (amyotrophic lateral sclerosis, often referred to as "Lou Gehrig's disease"), raising money and awareness for those organizations. She is a board member of the Curtis R. Vance Foundation, a group that raises money for research and helps support ALS sufferers and their families. Chamberlin and Peter Roy married in 1994 and welcomed their son, Luke, in May of 2005. In her free time, Chamberlin enjoys writing, antiquing and working as a ski instructor with her husband. We are thrilled that this lovely and talented woman has found the time to join us for Love Out Loud VI on May 11, 2011.

Scott Evans Loves Out Loud

Scott Evans is best known for his role as the police officer Oliver Fish on One Life to Live. He is the younger brother of Chris Evans (Fantastic Four, Captain America: The First Avenger.) Scott was born in Sudbury, Massachusetts. He studied theater at New York University. Chris Evans told The Advocate in February 2009 that his brother was openly gay. In a June 15, 2009 interview with AfterElton.com, Scott Evans discussed the fact that he had come out at age 19 before he had pursued acting professionally. He said, "I didn’t want to be one of those people who goes back into the closet and tries to hide because I knew it would come out. With the success of my brother, I didn't feel it was necessary to hide it once I'd come out. I'm an out person, as opposed to an out actor, I suppose." Initially brought in to One Life to Live for five episodes, Evans returned several times. In July 2009 it was confirmed that his character Fish would become involved in a romantic relationship with another man [source: Wikipedia]. The storyline was followed religiously by AfterElton.com and engendered a loyal following for the characters and actors involved. Although the Network pulled its support from something that initially brought much good will in the LGBT community at large, there is still much loyalty for Scott because of his courage and involvement in a groundbreaking story. Last year Scott stepped to help us with an auction for an autographed copy of Details with the cover story about him. We are very happy and proud to have his personal participation in Love Out Loud VI.

In 2006 she was offered the contract role of police officer Talia Sahid on the ABC Daytime’s One Life to Live, debuting in December of that year and finishing the role in 2009. Ringgold, who hails from Rockaway, Queens, has worked with many celebrities on and off camera. As a bodyguard he worked for the likes of Tom Cruise , LL Cool J, Queen Latifah and Ludacris but it’s his on camera appearances in movies such as American Gangster, television shows Gossip Girl, and BET’s 106 & Park, his role One Life To Live not to mention the music videos for Elephant Man, Jim Jones, and a number of national and regional commercials that have created buzz for and interest in this talented actor. This former New York State Arm Wrestling Champion wears many hats; actor, stuntman, model and personal trainer to name a few, but it’s his passion coupled with his ability to find something inspirational in everything he does that fuels is acting career. “To be in television you have to feel good about who and what you are in order to reach higher levels of success. Jersey Boy Loves Out Loud: Tom Degnan

You gotta love a guy who loves the Phillies. OK? The eldest of three siblings, Tom Degnan, who was born in Bucks County, Pennsylvania grew up outside of Cherry Hill, New Jersey. A self-proclaimed sports fanatic, he was on the track team in high school and briefly considered trying out his athleticism at the collegiate level while attending Notre Dame, but he ended up majoring in finance, instead. "There was a short window— very, very short window — where I thought about actually walking on to the track team for hurdles," he told Soap Opera Digest. "You realize that all the kids who play varsity sports are bigger, faster, stronger than you so that wasn't going to fly!" It wasn't until Degnan took a theater class—just to fulfill a requirement, no less—that he discovered his passion for the stage. In 2008, Degnan went on to attend Case Western Reserve University, where he received an MFA in Theater. After a couple of small television appearances, Degnan was tapped to play mysterious war veteran Riley onAs the World Turns in 2009. Riley was revealed to be Margo's son, Adam, who had been presumed-dead in a bombing in Afghanistan.In November 2010, Degnan joined the cast of One Life to Live in the highly sought after recast role of Joey Buchanan (initially believing he'd lost the part to Josh Kelly, who plays Cutter). Degnan has also appeared on The Good Wife and is currently in a band with his former As the World Turns co-star Billy Magnussen (ex-Casey). We are proud to have him take part in Love Out Loud VI. David Andrew Gregory was born in Fairbanks, Alaska, on August 19, 1985. At an early age, he knew that he wanted to be an actor. One summer he went to Interlochen Center for the Arts. The experience at the summer arts camp left him with the feeling that he had no other choice; performing arts was a part of him, and he was meant to act. In 2008, David graduated with a Bachelor of Music in Music Theatre from Baldwin-Wallace College in Berea, Ohio. During his college years, he had exposure to acting opportunities that he had not received anywhere else, and he really appreciates the insight that he has taken away from his mentors and teachers. Leading up to his role as Robert Ford on One Life to Live, David endured seven months of unemployment.He eventually got a call to audition for One Life to Live’s casting director, and although he didn’t feel the vibe, afterwards he got invited to read for Executive Producer Frank Valentini. Before he even making it home, he got the call, and they had an answer for him: Meet Robert Ford, everyone!
David is also very fortunate to have a great family who supports his ambitions, and he credits them for where he is today.Concerning his role on One Life to Live, he thanks his fans for their support, and he really appreciates their role in bringing his character, Ford, back to the show. Mark Lawson's rendition of "Anthem" from Chess elicited a palpable reaction when he took stage at BC/EFA's ABC Daytime Salutes Broadway two years ago. Lawson's upper torso on One Life to Live is legendary. It is, therefore, easy to ignore other talents therein. However, his beautiful voice blessed the audience that evening. One of his co-stars, Farah Fath had this to say in a recent interview: He is really intense, and I like to work with actors who take their work seriously. He is a true actor’s actor. He gets in there and finds the rawest place he can go. He does not care if it’s a big scene or small scene. He is committed. Mark was on contract from the beginning, but that does not really mean anything. I think they were really impressed with him, and he works really hard, does his homework, and I respect that. Lawson has fans in other cast members, among them Ilene Kristen who is no slouch in recognizing true talent. Part of One Life to Live's landmark gay story line, Rodriguez was known to Broadway musical lovers from his roles in Tarzan, and Almost Heaven.

When the talented, handsome Texan came to television land he played Nick Chavez on One Life to Live, Mr. Rodriguez had this to say: "I'm just so grateful to be working with people like Brett and Scott, and Tuc Watkins has been a really big help. Everybody's just so cool. Stewart Lewis began his career in the living room of his parents home, when at a mere age of five he was thrown a tambourine. His parents moonlighted in a bluegrass band and there was always four part harmony around the fire among sleeping labradors.
Attending the University of Colorado in Boulder, a few years later, Stewart directed plays and starred in the main stage production of Pippin. At the time, his band Acoustic Junction was becoming a college jam band phenomenon, opening for Blues Traveler and The Band among others. After graduating, Stewart left the band to pursue acting in New York. After a short stint on CBS’s Guiding Light, Stewart decided to move back to Colorado and pursue a solo singer-songwriting career. After the release of his first recording Faces in the Crowd, Stewart’s soulful blend of pop and folk was featured on Ghost Whisperer, MTV's Laguna Beach, Joan of Arcadia, Dawson's Creek, Biggest Loser, and Firehouse Dog.

He has shared the stage with Grammy winner Shawn Colvin and indie stalwart Ani Difranco. Stewart was the very first artist signed to the Here! Adam Sank is a very funny fellow and a charmer. When appearing with Stewart Lewis at The Stonewall Inn, Adam was laugh out loud funny. Therefore, asking him to help out as a host for Love Out Loud VI was a no-brainer. We all like a dose of sensitivity with our humor. He is the perfect choice and it didn’t take him very long at all to decide to help out.

Adam Sank is one of the most recognized openly gay stand-up comics in the country, having been featured on Season Six of NBC's Last Comic Standing, in which he advanced to the New York showcase. He has also appeared on truTV's "Smoking Gun Presents: World's Dumbest Criminals," Vh-1's Best Week Ever and Here-TV's Hot Gay Comics, along with multiple appearances Sirius-XM OutQ Radio.

On the East Coast, Adam has performed at all the major New York comedy clubs and has headlined in Fire Island, NY (The Ice Palace at Cherry Grove) the Poconos, PA (Rainbow Mountain Resort and GNI Retreat), Cape May, NJ (Cabanas on the Beach and Martini Beach) and Rehoboth Beach, DE (The Blue Moon). From 2006 to 2007, he hosted Adam Sank's Gay Bash, a monthly showcase, at Caroline's on Broadway and later Comix comedy club. And for three years, Adam was the host and producer of the wildly successful Electro Shock Therapy Comedy Hour at New York's Therapy lounge. It's that time again to make people aware that the largest AIDS fund-raising event in the world is going take place in the city that many people consider to be the capital of the world. New York can afford the opportunity not only for formidable events like the New York AIDS Walk but also to become friends with exceptional people, one of whom is the multi-talented Ilene Kristen (Grease,Ryan's Hope,One Life to Live) who is generous to a fault and was the first to volunteer her presence and musical talent for Love Out Loud the annual fund-raiser promoted by POZ magazine at Prohibition. This year it's taking place as usual on the Wednesday prior to the walk on May 11, 2011 from 5:30 to 9:00pm at Prohibition at 84th & Columbus. The idea, of course, is to get fans to come meet their favourite celebs and donate to the team effort. Ilene has been part of every Love Out Loud. The woman's generosity and kindness is without bounds. When Ilene becomes your friend, your life gets better.

Ilene's shows are full of reminiscences in which she relates to her audience as if they were in her living room. She herself says so. Nonetheless her music is sultry, smooth and funky at one and the same time. Still this smoothness wraps itself around complex and sensitive lyrics in her original material. "Hold on to the earth with your own two hands and never say goodbye" are the lyrics she wrote in response to The World Trade Center tragedy and the loss of her good friend Nancy Addison from Ryan's Hope. The song is the memorable and poignant, "Flesh and Blood."

She has lost many friends to AIDS and is very much impacted by the disease which has now ravaged the world for over twenty five years. It's no wonder that this vibrant, diminutive powerhouse is always eager to lend a hand, clearly one of the most generous spirits alive. To know her is to love her.

Lovin' Gregory Nalbone

On April 21, 2010 Gregory Nalbone performed at the Hearts & Voices fundraiser for the Imperial Court of New York City. The patrons of Birdland and Iguana have also been treated to his vocal talents on a frequent basis. The move to New York City in 1991 from New Jersey when he was paying his bills by bartending and dancing turned out to be great exposure for him—literally—his image was requested by many a topnotch photographer. As a serious student of both acting and voice this proved to be a great boon for him and New York was the beneficiary! Nalbone is well known on the cabaret circuit and his modeling career has brought him into contact with the best among photographers among them the late Bill Costa, Antoine Verglas, Thomas Synnamon, Reed Massengill and Steven Meisel.

This prolific modeling experience has brought Gregory into the pages of Italian Vogue, Men's Health, Exercise for Men Only, Manner Aktuell, Details, Playboy, Glamour and Dreamboys among others. This generous man will be on hand on May 11 at Prohibition to greet his friends and fans to encourage support of POZ’s efforts for AIDS Walk New York. Gregory is the first to come on board this year. He has served as musical director, conductor, pianist, and arranger in New York (Meet Me in St. Louis, The Producers) and New Jersey theater venues (Paper Mill Playhouse) for over three decades. Jim has composed music and lyrics for three original theater pieces, most notably Chopin and Sand about the love affair between the great composer and the notorious writer. Holiday is based on the award winning Philip Barry play, which starred Cary Grant and Katherine Hepburn on film. Jim is currently developing the book and score for Esquires, a satirical dark comedy based on his decade of experiences as a practicing attorney. Jim has performed as a singer and accompanist at leading New York City venues such as Danny's Skylight, The Duplex, Don't Tell Mama, Rose's Turn, and The Stonewall. His vocal and instrumental arrangements have been featured on critically acclaimed solo artist recordings, choral gospel and pop concerts on both the East and West coast, and by the Washington DC gay men's chorus. Stewart Lewis began his career in the living room of his parents home, when at a mere age of five he was thrown a tambourine. His parents moonlighted in a bluegrass band and there was always four part harmony around the fire among sleeping labradors.
Attending the University of Colorado in Boulder, a few years later, Stewart directed plays and starred in the main stage production of Pippin. At the time, his band Acoustic Junction was becoming a college jam band phenomenon, opening for Blues Traveler and The Band among others. After graduating, Stewart left the band to pursue acting in New York. After a short stint on CBS’s Guiding Light, Stewart decided to move back to Colorado and pursue a solo singer-songwriting career. After the release of his first recording Faces in the Crowd, Stewart’s soulful blend of pop and folk was featured on Ghost Whisperer, MTV's Laguna Beach, Joan of Arcadia, Dawson's Creek, Biggest Loser, and Firehouse Dog. He has shared the stage with Grammy winner Shawn Colvin and indie stalwart Ani Difranco. Stewart was the very first artist signed to the Here! TV Network and Regent Entertainment's new music venture, Here! Tunes, where the CD, In Formation was released. He is also the author of the semi-autobiographical novel Rockstarlet, and Relative Stranger (praised by Augusten Burroughs) both from Alyson Books. No wonder Neil Plakcy at GayWired referred to the fetching Mr. Lewis as a triple threat. If threats be the food of admiration, threaten us, please. It was a reference to his three major talents as a singer/songwriter/novelist. No doubt there are more threats coming. The move to New York City in 1991 from New Jersey when he was paying his bills by bartending and dancing turned out to be great exposure for him—literally—his image was requested by many a topnotch photographer. A serious student of both acting and voice proved to be a great boon for him and New York was the beneficiary! Dolores "LaLa" Brooks was a member of the legendary girl group The Crystals and is best known as the lead vocalist on their hits "Then He Kissed Me" and "Da Doo Ron Ron."
Brooks was the second youngest of 11 children, born to a full-blooded Native American mother and an African-American father. She once told an interview of her mother and laughed, "I knew she was different when she couldn't comb my hair. She told me to ask a neighbor to do it. I have my father's kinky hair."

Brooks first displayed her talent by singing gospel music in church. At age seven, she took part in her siblings' gospel group called the Little Gospel Tears, where they sang in Brooklyn. While attending PS 73, she was discovered in an after-school program by Dolores "Dee Dee" Kenniebrew and her mother, who invited her to join The Crystals as a replacement for a departing member. Brooks accepted this invitation.

After leaving the Crystals, she married jazz musician Leo Morris (also known as Idris Muhammad) in 1966; the union brought two sons and two daughters. Shortly thereafter, she converted to Islam with him, going under the name Sakinah Muhammad. She then helped him write and record his material over the years. In 1968, she appeared in the original Broadway production of the musical Hair, where she performed the song "Aquarius." She would later appear in the Broadway show Two Gentlemen of Verona in 1971. She also toured with and recorded for various artists (such as the Neville Brothers, Bobby Womack and Isaac Hayes), made short appearances in films, and contributed songs to different movie soundtracks (including the 1970 film Cotton Comes to Harlem). In 1971, she reunited with Dolores "Dee Dee" Kenniebrew, Mary Thomas, and Barbara Alston as The Crystals and toured and performed in rock-&-roll revival shows. Their touring lasted until 1973 when the members decided to devote their time to their families.

In 1983, she and her family moved to London, England where she and Morris continued their careers in music. In 1990, they moved to Vienna, Austria where she continued singing and writing songs with Morris and also hosted a local radio show; they lived in Vienna until 1997. Andrew Edge sang backing vocals her on her BMG (Austria) CD LaLa Brooks & Friends in 1994.[1] In 1999, she and Morris separated but have remained on good terms since then. Brooks moved back to the United States at the turn of the century and currently resides in New York City.

One of the inspirations for participation in AIDS Walk is having known a talented person that went away much too soon. What follows is a post from the last three years about him followed by a letter written by him. He was a delightful person. Would that the universe would send us more like him.

Living in Florence, Italy provides an opportunity to meet a wide variety of people. It was especially true in that threshold of time when the decadent 70s were over and the world was on the verge of what might very well be called the greatest health crisis of the 20th century. In that small pocket of time it seems, in retrospect, that there were some idyllic experiences in spite of living in the onslaught of the world according to Ronald Reagan.

One of those happy times occurred when Timothy Scott arrived in the heart of Tuscany. He was a bundle of energy that simply wanted to enjoy everything around him. He was a dancer. He was a singer -- and that was only in his day to day life. He was also a professional performer.

The happy days included literally dancing down the cobbled streets singing, "You're Nobody Till Somebody Loves You" with the best spontaneous choreography fueled by not too much Vernaccia, one of the best of the dry white Tuscans. Tim said he wanted to use the song for auditions. It was a blessing to inspire him just that much.

Tim was a happy blessing and the blessing carried over when he returned to the States where he joined the original cast of Cats.

The joyous culmination of knowing him came upon visiting New York and seeing him dance and sing gloriously as Mr. Mistoffelees.

Given his chosen profession not hearing from Tim seemed a matter of course and was accompanied by the hope that his success was continuing.

Life of course went on and once that threshold was crossed into the Age of the "Gay Plague" so much of life as was known was forever changed.

The AIDS Memorial Quilt came to Philadelphia. There on the highest row was this panel:

Tim would be a magical cat forever.

The annual solidarity walk with those who have passed over and with those who live and thrive while the Plague is still with us has arrived again. This website and our team mates will once again ask for your support in helping to change the course of the epidemic. The face of it has changed over these past two decades and, therefore, it is time to remember the beautiful energy that was Tim and others like him. It is time to support those who are still with us in order to keep them with us until they lived to their fulfillment and ours.

Giovanni and AIDS Walk

Next Week I will be participating in the United States Conference on AIDS in Orlando, FL. My participation there focuses on reaching out to HIV/AIDS activists and finding out what is going on throughout the network in gathering data, education and treatment. It has been a gratifying and illuminating experience in the past and I expect nothing less this time around.

I am here because I dodged a bullet that a majority of my gay male contemporaries, some of whom I loved much. It is why I walk and why I continue to promote events and fundraisers. Why I continue to pester. It is my part in the ongoing drama of a devastation that should have never happened.

A colleague from POZ pointed out this short story from the Sunday Styles section of the New York Times where there are often soap opera-unrequited love type stories. It gives a human perspective on what can be so easily and summarily dismissed.

She has made the role her own much to the benefit of faithful All My Children viewers and fans. Kendall has one of those personas that defies category and for that very reason keeps us tuning in. All that panache comes from somewhere inside La Minshew who works unfailingly to bring Mrs. Slater (Kendall) to light. Love Out Loud for Matt Montgomery

"A lot of actors come into this industry and they do a gay film here or there and either they themselves or through the advice of other people, decide that they don't want to continue playing other gay characters because they're afraid of being typecast. I felt the complete opposite," he said. "I felt a huge sense of loyalty to these filmmakers and to the viewers watching these movies. If I spent the rest of my life only doing movies in the independent film industry, at least it's part of something that's progressive and part of something that's at the frontier of movement and change."
"It was never my plan to stay in or leave the gay independent film industry," he added. "It was just omething that kind of happened. But I kept working and what started to happen is it started to open other doors for me in general."
Born in Houston and raised Corpus Christi, Matthew thought his television was filled with tiny people and he wpndered how he could get into the set. It was then that his artist father explained to him what acting was.
"I never wanted to do anything else," he said.

With an artist father as a role model Matthew Montgomery was immersed in the art world at a very young age. As his surroundings consisted of his father's gallery as well as his father's friends who were made up of other artists, filmmakers, writers and actors, inspiration was not hard to come by.
